Description
Reactors sees the Revellers back with their first new release in 9 years – an explosive ten track production spanning genre and subject matter.
Described by some as ‘Heavy Folk Music’, The Revellers are the result of what happens when you take seven Shetland Isles musicians steeped in the rich traditional influence of their traditional scene and bring them up on a diet of alternative rock, punk and metal – A seven headed juggernaut that combine fiddle, mandolin and tenor banjo with heavy metal and punk rhythm and riffs.
Praised for their energetic live shows and stage antics, they have been described as one of the most entertaining bands in the north with an unmatched enthusiasm, energy and joy in their playing. While all members are based in the Isles, they have played festivals all over UK and Europe and supported acts like Big Country, Bombskare and The Levellers.
The tracks have been recorded in a variety of spaces including a disused church, record store and a pelagic fishing boat. Tracks vary from the aggressive metal influenced opener, Reactor Number 4, electronic influenced The Reflector, folk infused Where the Olives Grow and anthemic brooding Something Worth Fighting For. The band keep their origin in mind too with their own version of Rhoda Bulter’s poem, Clearances in Shetland Dialect.
The Revellers are: Michael Anderson, Magnus Bradley, Daniel Gear, John William Halcrow, Erik & Lewie Peterson and Adam Priest. Album recorded, mixed and mastered by Jamie Hatch.
