Description

Jude Edwin-Scott is a singer-songwriter and guitarist based in the North-West of England. He has a gentle, laid-back style based around his distinctive voice and intricate English finger-style guitar playing. Birdsong focuses on the inspiring journeys people make and his own adventures in Wales and Scotland. He brings to life the historical, political and emotional context of ordinary people living through difficult times. The album features 9 original songs and new arrangements of ‘Nancy Of Yarmouth’ and ‘Planxty Davis’.

Birdsong is inspired by people’s courage through adversity. In recent times, the covid pandemic; the plight of refugees fleeing war in the Ukraine and a call to rise up against leaders who act like pirates. There are older adventure stories too like ‘Nancy Of Yarmouth’; and well known characters like Ernest Shackleton and Amelia Earhart. The album’s title ‘Birdsong’ represents home, singing in the heart of the first world war soldier in ‘Walter Thomas’. The single rose left after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005 in ‘The Rose Of New Orleans’, based on a true story, is symbolic of hope and resilience.

A bird’s eye view offers us perspective on the incredible journeys people make through necessity.
