Description
Élan is the second album duo album from world renowned Scottish harpist, Rachel Hair and Ron Jappy, one of Scotland’s most in-demand guitar accompanists. Recorded in Glasgow in early 2023, Èlan an ancient French word meaning ‘with energy, style and enthusiasm’ is the perfect way to describe the duo’s refreshing and uplifting musical pairing of Scotland’s oldest instrument – the Clarsach (Scottish harp) with it’s newest – the acoustic guitar.
From jigs and reels to airs and waltzes, Rachel’s own compositions complement the carefully chosen traditional tunes providing a far more rich and complex sound than you might expect from just two instruments. Adam Brown (RURA, Imar) guests on several tracks on bodhran.
The album was funded by Creative Scotland and recorded by Scott Wood (Skerryvore) and mixed and mastered by Andrea Gobbi (GloWorm Recording, Carrier Waves Mastering).
