Description

Aged 65, Norman Paterson has released a debut album inspired by the island he left more than 30 years ago. The songs on Torn reflect the rich heritage and history of daily life in the Outer Hebrides where Paterson was born in 1957. On the album Paterson sings and plays guitar and is backed by such musicians as Angus Lyon on accordion and keyboards, Anna Massie on guitar, banjo and mandolin, both from the Blazon Fiddles, Scottish Powerhouse Fin Napier and Susy Wall from the Black Country on backing vocals and harmonies.

According to Fin Napier: “Norman’s songs bypass the brain and go straight for the heart. (That’s code for some of his songs make me a bit teary). I think of him as the ‘Hebridean John Prine’

While Declan Welch of Declan Welch and the Decadent Welsh describes Norman as “A songwriter whose compassion pours out in every word and lyric, Norman’s writing moved me to tears with its beauty
