Description

Seinneamaid Còmhla (Let’s sing praise together) which promotes the Gaelic-rich culture of North Skye, follows the publication of a new Gaelic hymnbook of the same name.

The album offers a mix of traditional and modern hymns, which have been translated into Gaelic. It contains solos, duets, group and congregational singing. Some tracks have musical accompaniment whilst others are of the more traditional unaccompanied variety.

Musicians include Calum Muno (guitar/accordion/vocals), Catherine Munro (vocals), Annie MacDonald (vocals); and The Brogues –  Alan Murray (fiddle/vocals), David Matheson (guitar), Sam Clark (piano), with Mary MacLeod (vocals) and Gus Stirrat (double bass).

The tracks sung by Seinneamaid Còmhla singers, and the congregational singing, were recorded in Staffin Church of Scotland and Eric Cloughley’s studio in Torvaig, Skye. The Brogues were recorded at Gus Stirrat’s Solas Sound studio in Glasgow.
